PROVIDING HONEST MEDICAL INFORMATION TO BUSY WOMEN

I set up The Digital GP to provide honest medical information to busy women. As an NHS GP I see many women who are juggling busy jobs, pregnancy, young children, teenagers, elderly parents, school, university, care homes to name a few and they subsequently often don’t have time for themselves. They often put themselves and their own health last and some suffer in silence.

I’ve continued this mission to improve women’s health by co-founding The Well HQ, an online platform to help active women and those who support them, gain knowledge and know-how in women’s health so they can thrive in health, in sport and in life.

With both platforms, my aim is to inform you with helpful tips for your and your family’s health. To inspire you to make lifestyle changes to prevent health problems. And to hopefully make an impact in the life of you and your family.

So proud to be involved with this campaign • @thewell_hq

Call it what it is.
Period.

In conjunction with 50 top female athletes, we’ve just launched our Call it What it is campaign, a plea to standardise the language of the female body, starting with period.

You can get involved and sign the pledge:
No more euphemisms
No more stigma
#sayperiod

It’s a change anyone can make. It’s a change we can all impart to friends, peers and, crucially, the next generation. If we can
hand over a functional vocabulary that lends itself to cohesion and change we can evolve past a social compromise that continues to limit her in school, into life, into sport and beyond.

This is a step we can all take. Language has power. The wrong language hurts. The right language will be a stepping stone to her future, better.

Join the pledge with the link in @thewell_hq bio x

Posted @withrepost • @thewell_hq Today is world mental health day.

We often hear about physical symptoms of the menopause

But mental health symptoms are also common in the menopause

We need to be talking about the Menopause and Mental Health more:
Anxiety
Low Mood
Panic Attacks
Depression
Feeling Emotional
Tearful
Irritability

THESE CAN ALL BE SYMPTOMS OF THE MENOPAUSE

And as with most menopausal symptoms, there can be a relatively simple fix (HRT + looking at lifestyle factors)!

Talk to your GP, if they don’t listen then don’t be disheartened and try again or find a different health professional to talk to.

Learn more to in the article linked in our story!

Share to spread awareness, don’t let any woman suffer in silence x

Reposting @withrepost • @talkswithdrsesay Are you gynae aware? Can you confidently name all of the gynae anatomy? Are you familiar with ‘red flag’ symptoms to look out for when it comes to gynaecological conditions? Do you feel comfortable talking about gynae health or seeking help for it?

Did you answer ‘No’ to any of the questions above? These things are vital to be aware of. There is a crucial need to raise awareness about gynae health. The taboo, stigma and embarrassment surrounding it need to be obliterated. Too many are suffering in silence and too many are being diagnosed with conditions late when outcomes could have been very different had there been better knowledge and education.

This is why I am so excited to be teaming up with @GSK and @eveappeal on their “BeGynaeAware” campaign which aims to raise awareness of gynaecological health to help people become better aware of what’s normal for them and feel confident to visit their doctor to discuss their concerns. Check out their website by clicking on the link in bio and test your knowledge by taking the BeGynaeAware quiz.

There is also an amazing BeGynaeAware checklist which contains all the different gynae health areas to keep track of, to help you spot if something might have changed. Additionally, there are handy guides for both patients and health professionals with tips and suggestions to make the gynae health appointment more comfortable and supportive.

This is such an amazing campaign, I hope you get involved and share with your family and friends. Let’s all #BeGynaeAware
